 Film editing project

When viewing the final product of my video I realized a few things about editing. One of those this was that the planing of transition has to be more precise. Me and my partner did the filming with very little planning involved. We came to the realization that that was a mistake. When transitioning from one shot to another they're has to be more similarities to make it look smoother. For example we crossfaded from one girl to another but they didn't look alike so it didn't work. Also we tried to transition from one circle in a scene to another but we couldn't figure out how to overlap clips. So that part tuned out vert bad. I provided some creative input in the set up but i was mostly the actress in the video.

Fade in- This is typically used as an open shot i a film and that is also how we used it. It makes it easier for the audience to view a new scene. It makes a more subtle transition than a sudden cut from clip to clip.

Flashback- We used this to show how I was told an assignment was due and then I forgot and remembered being told when it was due. This helps create contact of a situation without having to show clips in chronological order.

Iris in- This method is typically used to open up a scene at a slower pace. The way we used it was to focus on me who was the center of the scene.

Crosscutting- This is when a film shows twos crease back and forth cutting on action to make it seem like they are happening simultaneously but that is not the case.

Parallel editing- This is meant to give the impression that events that are taking place at different location are taking place at the same point in time during the film.

Graphic match cut- This uses aliments in one scene to move to another for example we used a circle from one scene to transition to a circle in another scene.
